Mississippi Symphony Orchestra

As the largest performing arts organization in the state, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Crafton Beck, offers something for everyone!  For classics, the MSO has its signature Bravo Series in Thalia Mara Hall.  Highlights of this season include Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture in January, Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony in March, plus an evening devoted to masterworks by Beethoven.

The 09-10 MSO Pops Series includes The Movie Magic of John Williams, a Boston Pops-style event with food and beverage service at the Jackson Convention Complex, a Broadway Valentine in February, and the annual Pepsi Pops on the Reservoir.

Organist Olivier Latry from the Cathedral of Notre Dame  in Paris joins the MSO on this season’s Chamber Series, which also includes the enchanting Mozart by Candlelight concert.

The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra also tours the state annually and provides educational programs including string instruction programs and a full range of performances from small in-school demonstrations called “informances” to full orchestra productions.
