Cantabile Youth Choral

Cantabile Youth Chorale, a metro-based choir for girls in the third through the twelfth grades, begins its sixth season with rehearsals in Madison, Brandon, and Clinton. During weekly rehearsals, the choir provides a complete music education program with emphasis on vocal production, diction, breath management, performance skills and overall musicianship. The CYC staff members are investing in the lives of young girls in each of the communities by fostering personal, social, and artistic growth through experience with quality music. By participating in an ensemble, children learn to work together effectively, thereby increasing their self-esteem, creative thinking, and communication skills.

Singing a capella as well as in two to four parts, CYC choristers examine a broad range of choral literature including classical music, folk songs of many countries and cultures, and sacred and secular songs whose texts deal with the messages of love, peace, and friendship.

New Cantabile members are accepted every September and January. For more information, contact Andrea Coleman, Artistic Director, at 601-936-6791 or visit our web site at www.cychoirs.com.

"Music is one way for young people to connect with themselves, but it is also a bridge for connecting with others. through music, we can introduce children to the richness and diversity of the human family and to the myriad rhythms of life."
